Powering Your Mission

Integrated Power, Controls, And Sensing For Unmanned Systems

Hardware Capabilities

What we engineer and Manufacture

Power

Battery packs, chargers, converters, and battery management. Energy budgets, thermal behavior, charge and discharge architecture, and the safety and monitoring system (BMS) layer around them.

Controls

Flight controllers, power controllers, and the
control electronics that sit between a system's intent and its actuators. Hardware, embedded software, and the interfaces that connect a controller to the rest of the platform.

Sensing

Sensor selection, integration, and the signal path from raw measurement to usable data.
Placement, isolation, calibration, and the electrical design decisions that determine whether a sensor performs in the field the way it performed on the bench.

Altora comes out of Treetown Tech, an Ann Arbor engineering firm working across mechanical, electrical, software, rapid prototyping, and manufacturing – with hundreds of years of collective engineering and manufacturing experience behind it.

Treetown Tech is big enough to have specialists and small enough to move quickly and flexibly. A program gets the electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to solve its problems, and they’re all in the same building and already used to working with each other.

For Altora, that means a new company with an established engineering and manufacturing organization behind it. When a project needs mechanical design, enclosure work, or prototyping support beyond the power and controls layer, it is down the hall.

We build what we design

Altora runs its own production, with placement and process in house.
The team designing the hardware gets direct feedback from building it, so manufacturability is a design input rather than a later discovery. And the team making the units has access to engineers for any issues that come up during production.
For programs with domestic sourcing requirements, that means design and production answer to the same team.
System Integration

Integration By One Team

Most teams source power from one place, controls another, and sensing a third. Each piece meets its own spec. The integration risk lands on the customer, and it shows up late, in thermal behavior, in noise on the sensor line, in a power budget that held in the model but not in the field.

Altora works the other direction. We treat power, controls, and sensing as one design problem, because in the finished system they are one. The tradeoffs get made deliberately, early, by engineers who can see all three sides of them.

Power, controls, and sensing from one team.
Begin The Work

Getting started

Most engagements begin with a conversation about a subsystem that is not behaving, a design that has not been started, or a program with a sourcing requirement and a date.
